Indian eves have won their opening match in the ICC Women's World T20 tournament. At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, today, they beat Bangladesh by 72 runs in a Group B fixture. Sent in to bat, the hosts made made 163 for 5, which is their highest total in T20 Internationals. Chasing the target, Bangladesh could make only 91 for 5, in their twenty overs.In the Indian innings, Skipper Mithali Raj was the top scorer with 42, while Harmanpreet Kaur made 40. The other notable scorers were: V R Vanitha who made 38 and Veda Krishnamurthy who was unbeaten on 36.In the Men's section of the World T20, India will take on New Zealand in Nagpur in their opening fixture later this evening. The match is slated to begin at 7.30 p.m.
