India, B'desh will soon sign pact on Teesta water sharing: B'desh PM

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said India and Bangladesh will soon sign a pact on Teesta water sharing, but refused to specify any timeframe for the deal. She said this at a meeting of top leaders of the ruling Awami League in the capital Dhacca.

India has also expressed the hope that the two neighbours would be able arrive at an agreement on the sharing of the waters of the Teesta.

During Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhacca earlier this month, India and Bangladesh had signed several pacts, including a long-term Comprehensive Framework Agreement on Cooperation and Development.
