India and Bangladesh have decided to set up a joint commission led by the Minister of Foreign and External Affairs from both sides to coordinate and oversee implementation of various initiatives being taken under the framework agreement.In a 65-point joint statement issued at the end of the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's two-day visit to Bangladesh, the two Prime Ministers underscored the need for concluding and extradition treaty between the two countries expeditiously. It was also decided that both sides will held annual consultations at the level of Home Ministers.The Bangladesh Government has also decided to establish a special economic zone for Indian investment. It was also agreed to re-establish rail connection between the Chilahati-Haldibari and Kulaura Mahishasan.The two Prime Ministers also directed that necessary formalities for the youth of Chittagong and Mongla seaports for movement of goods from India through water, rail and road should be completed urgently.In addition to the proposed 1,320 Megawatts joint venture coal based power plant in Bagerhat, the two prime Ministers have also asked officials to conduct feasible studies for setting up of a similar plant at Chittagong. India and Bangladesh also decided to jointly celebrate the 90th anniversary of the publication of Bidrohi by Poet Nazar-ul-Islam.Dr. Manmohan Singh also announced the grant to Bangladesh for construction of state of the art, India and Bangladesh Cultural Centre in Dhaka, construction of railway line between Akhaura and Agartala in addition to setting up of an IT lab in one model school in all the district of Bangladesh.
