India and Bangladesh will jointly celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the publication of the legendary poem, “Bidrohi”, by Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam for three days beginning from Wednesday in Kolkata and Burdwan in India.
Union Minister of Coal Mr. Sriprakash Jaiswal will be the Chief Guest and the Finance Minister of Bangladesh, Mr. A.M.A. Muhith will be the Guest of Honor at the special inaugural programme to be held in Kolkata .
Mr.Muhith will be leading a 21-member Bangladesh delegation to the joint celebrations which will be organised for two days on July 4th and 5th in Kolkata and on 6th July in Burdwan which is close to Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birth place at Churulia.
The delegation from Bangladesh includes several prominent literary and cultural personalities which includes the grand- daughter of Kazi Nazrul Islam Ms. Khilkhil Kazi who will present a memorial speech. Earlier in the last week of May, India and Bangladesh had jointly celebrated the 90th Anniversary of the publication of “Bidrohi” by Kazi Nazrul Islam by organizing a two day programme in Dhaka.
The celebrations were inaugurated by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who was the chief guest at the inaugural programme while Union Minister for Law and Justice and Minority Affairs Mr.Salman Khurshid was the Guest of Honour from India.
The decision to jointly celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of the publication of the poem “Bidrohi” by Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was taken by the Prime Ministers of the two countries during the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Dhaka in September last year.
