India and Bangladesh will begin Director General, Border Security Force level talks in Dhaka today. The Indian delegation will be led by Director General, BSF Raman Srivastava while the Bangladesh delegation by Major General Border Guards Anwar Hussain. This is the 34th Director General level meeting between the BSF and the Border Guards Bangladesh and is part of the bi-annual conferences held alternately in New Delhi and Dhaka. Apart from focussing on various border management issues, the Indian delegation is likely to raise issues related to the presence of Indian Insurgent Groups, deportation of their leaders and members and handing over of Indian criminals during the talks with Bangladesh Border Guards.
The six day bi-annual Director General level conference between the Border Security force and Border Guards Bangladesh is the first meeting being held after the two sides signed a co-ordinated border management plan in July this year. The meeting will review the progress made on the implementation of the plan which aims to tackle border crimes related to insurgency, terrorism and militancy. In addition to this the talks will also focus on joint efforts by the BSF and BGB to prevent smuggling of Fake Indian Counterfeit Notes, Illegal Migration and trafficking of Women and Children.
