India and Bangladesh have exchanged draft agreements on the vexed Teesta water-sharing issue and promised to go ahead expeditiously. <br/> <br/>This was disclosed by Water Resources Minister Pawan Kumar while briefing newsmen on the two-day ministerial-level meeting of the Joint River Commission in New Delhi. <br/><br/>He said, the Water Resource Secretaries of the two countries have been asked to examine the drafts expeditiously for conclusion of an interim agreement on Teesta. <br/><br/>Earlier, Mr. Pawan Kumar held nearly four hours of talks with his Bangladesh counterpart Ramesh Chandra Sen.<br/><br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports that ‘Held in the backdrop of the warming up of India Bngladesh relations, the joint river commission meeting comprehensively covered almost all issues related to water sharing. <br/><br/>While on the vexed Teesta waters, there was a significan forward movement, both sides finalized 44 new sites in addition to 66 sites already agreed for the on going embankment repair and protection work. <br/><br/>The two sides were satisfied at dredging activities on the Ichhamati river. While Bangladesh agreed to withdrawal BY INDIA of 1.82 cusec of water from Feni river for drinking water supply schemes New Delhi agreed to provide flood water data as a special gesture to give Bangladesh more that 57 hours lead for advance warning of floods. <br/><br/>There was satisfaction over the working of the 1996 Ganga Waters Treaty as well as the joint monitoring mechanism set up under this Treaty. India also assured Bangladesh it will not take any step with regard to Tipaimukh Dam Projectas well as any unilateral decisions on its proposed river inter-linking project that might adversely affect Bangladesh side. ‘
