India and Bangladesh have decided to fast track the implementation of various agreements reached during the visits of the two Prime Ministers to each other's countries in 2010 and 2011.
Briefing reporters today in Dhaka about the Foreign Office Consultations held between the two countries in New Delhi on Tuesday, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes said that both sides have decided to fast track implementation of various agreements related to projects under the Indian line of credit, land boundary agreement implementation, trade facilitation measures, infrastructure development of land customs station and border haats.
Mr.Quayes added that he expects that both countries will make substantial forward movement on the outcome documents before the next Joint Consultative Commission meeting as both sides realize the need to translate all these commitments into a reality at the earliest as it is in the interest of both the nations.
He said that India has also reiterated that it is not considering the interlinking of the river systems of the Himalayan region. He added that co-operation in renewable energy and nuclear energy was also discussed during the Foreign Office consultations.
