India and Bangladesh are currently engaged in the process of conducting ground level surveys in the border areas in a bid to resolve outstanding border issues. Addressing a press conference after the arrival of Vice President Hamid Ansari in Dhaka today, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr.Rajeet Mitter said that there is a new urgency to resolve the border issues and the surveys are being done to ascertain the problems on the ground. Mr. Mitter said that the two sides are also working towards reaching a satisfactory water sharing agreement of the Teesta river and technical level issues are being sorted out. In addition to this, India and Bangladesh are also taking steps to connect the railway network from Tripura to Eastern Bangladesh. Mr. Mitter said apart from the proposed Akhuara to Agartala rail link, another rail link from Sabroom to Ramgarh is also being planned. In order to facilitate this rail link, the two sides have also decided to construct a bridge over the river Feni.
