India has finished eighth in the 19th Asian Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan. The Indian contingent bagged a Silver and two Bronze medals on the final day yesterday, taking the final medals tally to 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 8 Bronze and ending 8th on the table.Sudha Singh won the Silver in the Women's 3000 metre steeplechase event, clocking 10 minutes 8.52 seconds. Japan claimed the Gold while Vietnam took the Bronze.In Women's 800 metre race, Tintu Luka bagged the Bronze with a timing of 2 minutes 2.55 seconds, just behind Margarita Matsko of Kazakhstan who won the Silver. Vietnam took the Gold in this event.Ghamanda Ram gave India a bronze in Men's 800 metre race, clocking his personal best timing of 1 minute 46.36 seconds. He missed an Olympic berth by just 0.16 secs. The second Indian runner in the event, Sajeesh Joseph finished fifth. Mohamed Al-Azimi of Kuwait won the gold while Sajad Moradi of Iran settled for a Silver.Japan ended as the table leaders with 11 Gold, 10 Silver and 11 Bronze while China ended second with 10 Gold, 12 Silver and 5 Bronze. Bahrain was third.
