President Pratibha Devisingh Patil is in Vienna, the capital of Austria on the second leg of her two nation visit. India and Austria are expected to ink MOU's in the fields of science and technology and also for technological cooperation in railways during the President's four day stay in Austria.
Mrs. Patil was accorded a warm reception and a 21 gun salute on her arrival on Tuesday night at the Vienna airport and was received by the Mr. Karlheinzer Tockteler, the Austrian Minister for science and research. Earlier, the President's special aircraft Air India One was escorted by two fighter aircrafts, Eurofighter Typhoons as it entered the Austrian airspace. AIR Correspondent reports that Pratibha Devi Singh Patil during her stay in Austria will hold talks with her Austrian counterpart Mr. Heinz Fischer and Federal Chancellor Mr. Werner Faymann. She will also meet the President of the National Council Ms. Barbara Prammer at Austrian Parliament. Smt. Patil will also address Austrian Indian Economic Forum and the Indian Community in Austria.
President Patil had earlier concluded her succesful visit to Switzerland. Secretary West in the Ministry of External Affairs, Mr. M Ganapati said that the President Patil's visit to Switzerland has further enhanced mutual cooperation with India in various areas. He also said, that India has completed all the formalities relating to the ratification of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA). He said the Swiss President informed Mrs. Patil that the DTTA will come into force after fulfilling constitutional formalities.
