India at forefront of undertaking prompt humanitarian assistance: LS Speaker

<span style="color: #222222;">Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today said that India has been at the forefront of undertaking prompt humanitarian assistance and relief operations during the Covid pandemic.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Birla said this while participating in the General Debate on the topic the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic challenges at the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Austrian Parliament in Vienna.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He mentioned that India supplied vaccines, medicines and other equipments to over 150 countries as a measure of our commitment to global health and well being.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Birla further stressed that the post-pandemic global economic recovery phase requires collaboration and cooperation between member countries, to stimulate the revival and rebounding of the global economy.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On the sidelines of the Conference, Mr Birla held bilateral meetings with the Presiding Officers of Parliaments of Italy, Mongolia and Guyana.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the meeting he discussed about shared democratic values, strengthening of democratic ethos at grassroots level, women empowerment and the need for enhanced mutual cooperation in cultural, economic, diplomatic and other areas.</span><br />
