India asserts never another Kargil type situation to occur on soil

India today asserted that there will be never another Kargil type situation will occur on the soil. Speaking to media in Drass, Lt General K T Parnaik, GoC Northern Command said the Army is fully prepared to tackle any kind of situation in the LoC. Gen Parnaik said peace is prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir and Army will prevent any attempts by the terrorists to resurface. Recalling the glorious sacrifices by the Army jawans and officers, he said by offering homage at the war memorial all get inspiration to fight better for the motherland. Early in the morning, a wreath laying ceremony was held to mark the 13th anniversary of the Kargil war. Senior Army officers and relatives of those killed in the war offered floral tributes to the martyrs. Our correspondent reports, Drass War Memorial has been built in the foothills of the Tololing Hill. The Drass town, 150 kms Srinagar, was a major battle zone in the summer of 1999 and rose to its fame in the aftermath of the war for being associated with the Tiger Hill and Tololing Hill. Yesterday, a polo match was held to mark the occasion.
