India asks US to correct inaccuracies in the map of India

India has asked the US to correct the inaccuracies, in the map of India , on the US State Department website. External Affairs Spokesperson Vishnu Prakash on Monday said in New Delhi that the Government has consistently rejected incorrect depiction of India 's borders on maps used by the US Government.

He said, it has used every opportunity to convey to the US side its concern in this regard, and has asked that these maps be corrected. This position was reiterated by a senior MEA official to the US Deputy Chief of Mission on Monday, who assured that the US Embassy would convey the concerns to the US State Department.

Mr. Prakash said, the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and it has consistently been conveyed to the international community that maps of India should depict the boundaries of the country correctly.

The official website of the US Department of State carries a map of the Indian subcontinent that shows PoK as a part of Pakistan .

AIR correspondent reports that in the case of Aksai Chin region in the north which shares a boundary with China and is currently occupied by Beijing , the map carries a pointer which does mention 'Indian claim'. But in the case of PoK, it fails to take note of its disputed status and India 's position.
