India has asked Pakistan to end its illegal occupation of some parts of Jammu and Kashmir before advising New Delhi as to how to go about doing things in Kashmir. External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna who is on a visit to US to attend the annual UN General Assembly meeting, said Kashmir is an internal matter of India and it is desirable that Pakistan should vacate the illegally occupied areas. In an interview to a private channel, Mr. Krishna said Government of India is fully conscious of its responsibilities and institutional mechanism and individual mechanism will be put in place so that the genuine grievances of Kashmir and the people of Kashmir will be addressed squarely and directly.
