India asks China to stay out of PoK

Hitting back at China, India today took objection to its engagement in projects in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, PoK and asked it to cease such activities taking long-term view of bilateral relations.<br/><br/>A day after China objected to the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Arunachal Pradesh, External Affairs Ministry took a strong view of President Hu Jintao's remarks that China will continue to engage in projects with Pakistan inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir.<br/><br/>External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash said in a statement that Pakistan has been in illegal occupation of parts of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir since 1947. He said, the Chinese side is fully aware of India's position and concerns about Chinese activities in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.<br/><br/>He also hoped that the Chinese side will take a long term view of the India-China relations and cease such activities in areas illegally occupied by Pakistan. The Chinese President, during a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani yesterday, outlined a major project to upgrade the Karakoram highway connecting the two countries overland and Chinese help in the Neelam-Jhelum hydroelectric project in PoK.<br/><br/>Reacting to Beijing's opposition to the visit of Prime Miniser Dr Manmoha Singh in Arunachal Pradesh on 3rd October, Chief Miniset Doorjee Khandu has stated in strong terms that China has no business to poke into the internal affairs of the border state.<br/><br/>In a statement , Mr Khandu reiterated that Arunachal is an intergral part of India and all Arunachalsese arer citizens of India. The Chief Minister asserted that the state has a constitutionally elected government and is represented by three MPs and there is a democratic process to elect their new representatives to the stae assembly.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Dr. manmohan Singh had visited the state early this month to campaign for the congress party. Expressing surprsie at the chinese claim Khandu, said several other important Indian Leaders including President Pratibha Patil, Defence Minister A.K Antony and the current finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had already visited the state and affirmed India's stand on the issue.
