India ASEAN FTA in Services and Investment by next month

India is ready to conclude Free Trade Agreement in Services and Investment with ASEAN by next month. This was stated by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in his address to the India-ASEAN Summit, at Phnom Penh last evening. Dr. Singh announced that India’s relationship with the grouping continues to grow in all dimensions, with commerce and connectivity being vital areas of this relationship in which good progress has been made. Dr. Singh said India would offer its own resources, expertise and experience to support growth and development in ASEAN countries, where such needs exist.

Earlier, trade imbalance between India and China figured prominently in the talks between the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and the Chinese premier Wen Jiabao last morning. Endorsing Chinese Premier's views, Dr. Manmohan Singh sought Chinese investment in infrastructure to balance trade.
