India approves second consignment for Lanka IDPs

India today approved supply of a second consignment of 2600 MT of Galvanized Corrugated Sheets worth 2.65 million USD to be used as shelter material for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) housed in various camps in Northern Sri Lanka.<br/>A press statement by the Indian Mission in Colombo said that to accelerate the de mining operations, two more teams are being sent by New Delhi. This is in addition to the four de mining teams funded by India currently operating in various areas in northern part of the island nation.<br/>India has also agreed to a further grant of 50,000 individual packets of agricultural implements for distribution among IDPs in the North consisting of basic digging implements to help in the resettlement process and contribute to revival of agriculture. <br/>Earlier, India had financed the procurement of 20,000 packets of agricultural implements. <br/>India also conveyed its decision to Colombo to offer a supplementary line of credit of 67.4 million USD for the rehabilitation of the Colombo-Matara Railway Line in the Southern Province. <br/>
