India and Saudi Arabia will chalk out a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) improving the welfare of 20 Lakh Indians in the country. This was stated by Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahmed while talking to reporters in Riyadh. He said that such an agreement will resolve labour issues and look after the interests of both the employer and employee. He disclosed that Saudi Arab is planning to introduce an insurance scheme for Indian workers to look after the interests of employers as well as employees.According to Arab news, he earlier held talks with Saudi Deputy Minister of Labour Abdulwahid Al-Humaid and his Saudi counterpart Nizar Madani. Mr. Ahmed said the two sides expressed satisfaction at increased bilateral cooperation in the pursuit of strategic partnerships between two countries following the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh last year. During the visit, India and the Saudi Arab signed the Riyadh Declaration, which paved the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation.Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Talmiz Ahmad, who was present at the bilateral talks, said the two parties evaluated the progress made after the Riyadh Declaration and discussed future programs.The minister also met with community members at a reception hosted by Indian Ambassador.
