India and Russia have affirmed the need to join efforts of all states to defeat terrorism. In a joint statement issued in Moscow, both the countries condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and agreed that there should be no tolerance for sheltering, arming, training, or financing of terrorists. Our correspondent reports that after a fou- hour long summit and delegation level talks, convergence of views emerged on global developments in Syria, Afghanistan and Iran and to collaborate constructively at international forums.
Both sides resolved to promote investments and closer cooperation in areas with great potential like oil and gas, energy, information technology, aviation, hydrocarbons and mining. Although, no agreement was signed on the 3rd and 4th Unit of Kudankulam nuclear power plant, both sides indicated their firm commitment to the implementation of the 2010 civil nuclear energy agreement and to expeditiously finalise it.
