India and Russia have agreed on the final price for the Gorshkov, the aircraft carrier. Official sources said that the talks between Defence Ministry's Contract Negotiation Committee and a Russian team concluded in Delhi recently. Sources said that the proposal will now be sent to the Finance Ministry for clearance. Later, the Cabinet Committee on Security will take a final call on the issue. The aircraft carrier is expected to join the Indian Navy fleet in 2012 as INS Vikramaditya. During Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's visit to Russia earlier this month, officials had said the two countries have ended the stalemate over the contentious price and technical issues for aircraft carrier.

AIR correspondent reports that two countries have been renegotiating the deal since 2007 after Moscow demanded an additional 1.2 billion US dollars for the warship. The deal was finalised in the NDA regime and India had paid 1.5 billion dollars for the warship and 16 MiG fighter aircraft.
