India and Poland sign pact on cultural exchange programmes

India and Poland have signed a pact to intensify bilateral cultural exchange programmes. It was signed after delegation level talks between the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk in New Delhi on Tuesday. Mr. Tusk is on a three-day visit to India. He held discussion with the captains of Indian Industry in Bangalore. During the discussions with Dr. Singh, strengthening of relationships in the fields of defence, trade and investment was high on the agenda. The conclusion of India-EU free trade agreement is believed to have figured in the talks. India and EU have been actively engaged in concluding this agreement for quite some time now. Poland is all set to take over the presidency of the EU next year. According to External Affairs Ministry sources, discussions in the defence cooperation included joint ventures and transfer of technology.
