Bilateral relations between India and Indonesia opened a new chapter on Friday. Both the countries signed six Memoranda of Understanding, MoU, in Jakarta in the presence of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and President Yudhoyono.
The pacts are in the fields of health and family welfare, on combating corruption, narcotics control, disaster management, training administrators, and promoting friendly, cooperative and collaborative institutional relations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh said that Indonesia is one of India’s most valued partners in our Look East Policy.
In a joint statement issued in Jakarta on the conclusion of the Prime Minister's visit on Friday, the two countries said bilateral relations in defence and security cooperation will be enhanced.
