India and France intend to develop multi-faceted civil nuclear cooperation. <br/><br/>The two sides will be covering a wide array of areas, including nuclear power projects, fuel supplies, research and development, nuclear safety, education and training. <br/><br/>This was disclosed by the External Affairs Ministry spokesman while briefing on the meeting between Dr Manmohan Singh and the French President Nicholas Sarkozy in Washington last night. <br/><br/>It may be recalled that France was the first country to sign a nuclear deal with India. <br/><br/>The spokesman said that during the meeting which lasted for 50 minutes, Mr. Sarkozy reiterated French support for India’s permanent membership of the UN Security Council. <br/><br/>The two leaders also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan, cooperation in counter terrorism and G-20. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel.<br/>
