Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping was accorded ceremonial reception at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning. Speaking on the occasion, he said, India and China should take their strategic partnership to higher levels. Mr Xi Jinping said, it is important for the two countries to deepen the alignment of development strategies as both have common development goals. He said, this can help in creating more opportunities for the world.
Later, Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rajghat, the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi and paid homage.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said, the issue of Chinese incursion was raised yesterday in a meeting between Prime minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He said, the issue will be raised again today when Mr Modi and Xi Jinping hold meetings. AIR Correspondent reports that the two countries in a short while from now, will hold delegation level talks in New Delhi to expand bilateral cooperation and further strengthen ties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will discuss important regional and international issues during the talks. The Chinese President, accompanied by his wife Peng Liyuan and a delegation of senior party functionaries and government officials, is on a three-day visit to India.
