India and Chile has stressed on the need to strengthening cooperation in trade, commerce, renewable energy, space and defence sectors. A seven Member Parliamentary delegation from Chile headed by Mr. Fidel Espinoza, President of the Chamber of Deputies of National Congress of Chile was today called by Rajya Sabha Chairman, M Venkaiah Naidu in Parliament today. Welcoming the delegation, Mr Naidu stated that both the country have friendly relationships and democracy is an important commonality between the two countries.<br/><br/>He acknowledged Chile's support for India's candidature for a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, particularly its support for India's candidate, Judge Dalveer Bhandari for re-election to the International Court of Justice. Mr Naidu expressed hope that Chile would also extend their support for India's candidature for a non-permanent seat in the UNSC for the 2021-22 period. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, both countries can also work towards people to people cooperation by promoting tourism, educational exchanges and cultural events. He also hoped that Ayurveda would be introduced as an alternative medicine in Chile.
