India and Bangladesh to give most favoured nation status to each other

India and Bangladesh have signed an agreement to promote and protect investments in both the countries. They also decided to give most favoured Nation status to each other in terms of investment. The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Dhaka following the discussions between External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr.Dipu Moni. AIR Dhaka correspondent reports that the agreement which will be in effect for ten years, provides for repatriation of capital investment, non operating profits, loan repayments, royalty payments and services fees without delay on non discriminatory basis. Bangladesh has decided to honour former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh. In a joint Press Conference with External Affairs Minister S.M Krishna in Dhaka, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that a special citation ceremony to honour Indira Gandhi will be organised during the upcoming visit of UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi to Dhaka on 25th of this month.
