India an attractive destination for global investments: President

The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has said that India has become an attractive destination for global investments. Addressing a reception in Geneva hosted by Indian Ambassador to Switzerland, she said that the global economic downturn had a limited impact on India and the Indian economy has consistently recorded high rates of growth. She said, India's growth offers many opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

The President appealed to the Indian community in Switzerland to continue their endeavors to build a strong and vibrant economic and political partnership between the two countries. She said, Indians have made significant contributions in the development of the country and are held in high regard by the people.

AIR correspondent accompanying the President takes a look at the strong presence of Indian community in Switzerland: Like India, Switzerland has some of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world and the number of Indian students studying here has been growing. Indians have also contributed their expertise in numerous faculties of these institutions.

Wishing a happy Dushera to all Indian families and Swiss friends, the President hoped that the goodwill generated through collective efforts of both the countries will further strengthen relationship between India and Switzerland.

The President arrived in the capital city Bern on Sunday night. Mrs. Patil will visit Swiss Parliament on Monday.
