India among fastest growth programmes in renewable energy: R K Singh

India has one of the fastest growth programmes in the world as far as renewable energy is concerned. This was stated by Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy RK Singh. Talking to AIR in Abu Dhabi, he said India has a renewable power production target of 1,75,000 MW which will be reached much before 2020.<br/><br/>In the wind, he said, there is a target of 60,000 MW which the Minister hoped will be achieved well within the target time.<br/><br/>Mr Singh is in Abu Dhabi to participate in the two-day International Solar Alliance Forum meeting. On the opening day, he was one of the key note speakers. The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a treaty based international inter-governmental alliance of 121 solar resource rich countries or the sunshine countries lying fully or partially between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. <br/><br/>The Alliance's primary objective is work for efficient exploitation of solar energy and to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. ISA envisages to develop the global solar market via demand aggregation, developing common financing pools and mechanisms, bankable projects, standardizing contracts, alignment of supply chains and trade facilitation through partnership programmes in Member Countrie
