The second India Africa Summit concluded with the adoption of Addis Ababa declaration reaffirming the strategic partnership, calling for a comprehensive reform of the UN system and condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The declaration adopted on the second and final day of the summit at Ehiopian capital noted that the profile of cooperation had been raised significantly. It said that the ties between India and Africa have been a true manifestation of South – South Co-operation. The declaration said that India is committed to substantially contribute to building African capacities through supporting education and capacity building institutions and in enhancing value addition and processing of raw materials in Africa. On Libya , the declaration called for an immediate cessation of all hostilities and urged the parties in the conflict to strive towards a political solution through peaceful means and dialogue. The Declaration also underlines and appreciated the common approach India and South Africa had taken in the WTO Doha round of negotiations. Stressing the need for international co-operation in combating global terrorism, the declaration said that India and Africa will work expeditiously finalize and adopt a comprehensive convention on International terrorism at the United Nations. Expressing concern on the threat of piracy off the coast of Somalia, the declaration said that Africa welcomed India’s efforts to safeguard shipping in the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. The Declaration also pledged to work to eradicate drug trafficking, trafficking in human beings organized crime and money laundering.
