India-Africa summit concludes: declaration affirms equality, mutual benefit

The second India Africa summit concluded this afternoon with the adoption of the Addis Ababa declaration reaffirming that partnership between the two sides remains based on the fundamental principles of equality mutual respect and mutual benefit. The 8-page declaration affirms the critical importance of south-south co-operation as an instrument that can effectively supplement existing international efforts and lead to tangible and real benefits for the developing world. Later, at a joint press conference Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said, that the financial package consisting of grants and lines of credit to Africa have begun showing results. He said Africa's efforts to find solution within its own region will receive India's full support.
