India Africa Forum Summit: Foreign Minsters to meet tomorrow in New Delhi

India is negotiating two documents with African countries participating in the India Africa Form Summit, IAFS, in New Delhi. The first document is on political partnership and the other on framework document on developmental cooperation. This was informed by External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup to the media this evening. Mr Swarup said, the foreign Minister's meeting between India and African countries will take place tomorrow. They will finalize the agenda of the Summit which will be held on 29th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit. Heads of State and Representatives of all African countries are attending the IAFS. <br/><br/>Senior officials of India and 54 countries of the African continent and African Union met today ahead of third India Africa Forum Summit, IAFS. India was represented by Secretary West in the External Affairs Ministry Navtej Sarna. <br/><br/>In reply to a media query Additional Secretary in the Ministry Sayed Akbaruddin said that the Summit will be gathering of representatives of every country in Africa which is unprecedented in the history of any Summit between Africa and any other country. He said the Kings of Morocco and Swaziland have already arrived in New Delhi to attend the Summit.<br/><br/>In reply to a question on access to affordable medicine by African countries, Mr. Akbaruddin said more than 80 per cent of HIV retro-viral drugs are sourced from India. He said UNAIDS is keen to organise meetings for visiting African leaders with Pharma Companies and medical hospital for a long term arrangement.

India Africa Forum Summit: Foreign Minsters to meet tomorrow in New Delhi

Foreign Secretary-level officials of India and 54 African countries met in New Delhi today, ahead of the third India Africa Forum Summit on Thursday. Foreign Ministers of the participating countries will meet tomorrow to finalize the agenda of the summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit. Heads of State and Representatives of the African countries are attending. On the sidelines of the Summit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the Heads of State. The summit will address the key challenges faced by Africa, which includes food, health and environmental security <br/><br/>In the Mann Ki Baat programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday said the Summit will review the scope of India's relations with Africa on bilateral, regional and continental levels. Mr Modi said, discussion on several economic, cultural and political issues like green technology, blue economy, education, healthcare and peace and security will take place. <br/><br/>During the Summit, Indian companies will explore the possibilities of investment in African countries while seeking business for Make in India initiative. There is 70 billion dollar trade between India and African countries. India and Heads of the African countries will also share concern over the growing terrorism and defence cooperation.
