India, Africa call for global unity to combat terrorism

India and South Africa have condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations as it constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. <br/> <br/>In a joint declaration at the end of three-day visit of South African President Jacob Zuma, the two countries urged the all nations to cooperate in resolving outstanding issues for expeditious conclusion of Comprehensive Convention on international terrorism. <br/> <br/>Strongly advocating reforms in the United Nations to render it more democratic character in tune with the present global realities, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to increase the voice, vote and representation of emerging and developing economies in decision- making bodies of multi-lateral institutions. <br/> <br/>The two leaders renewed their commitment to intensify consultation and cooperation at multilateral fora including NAM, Commonwealth, G-77 and China besides G-20. They urged the captains of industry from both the countries to work towards raising the bilateral trade to $ 10 billiion by 2012. <br/> <br/>Agreeing on expanding and widening the economic partnership, Manmohan Singh and Zuma identified to focus on manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, mines, oil and natural gas, banking, IT and financial services. <br/> <br/>Reiterating their commitment for early conclusion of Doha round of talks, they maintained that they will continue to work with other developing nations to strengthen their voice that have effectively changed the negotiating dynamic in the World Trade Organisations. The leaders urged the developed nations to take ambitious action to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to provide adequate international financing and transfer of technology to support developing countries to mitigate the impact of climate change. <br/>
