India has advanced its target of eliminating malaria by three years to 2027. Earlier the target was 2030. In its efforts to eliminate the disease, Health Ministry on Wednesday launched the National Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination in the country. <br/><br/>Releasing the plan at a function in New Delhi, Health Minister J P Nadda said, the five year plan will focus at district level to strengthen the strategy to eliminate the disease. <br/><br/>He said, under it, efforts will be made to create awareness among the people, checking breeding of mosquitoes and improving health facilities. Mr Nadda said, this is the first plan in this direction and two more plan will come up.<br/><br/>Mr Nadda said, good results have been seen towards controlling malaria in North Eastern States. He said, Long Lasting Insecticidal (LLI) nets are being used in controlling malaria from past three years. <br/><br/>He said, so far 40 million LLI nets have been distributed and 25 million more nets are to be distributed. He also appealed to the States work hand in hand with the Centre in its efforts to eliminate the disease.
