India achieves high economic growth rate despite difficult situations: PM

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Monday maintained that India has achieved high economic growth rate despite difficult situations. Addressing CWC in New Delhi on Monday, Dr. Singh said that the UPA government implemented largest ever programmes for social and economic inclusion in the country. The Prime Minister said poverty has declined in the country faster since the UPA came to power. Terming the present difficult time for the economy as the testing time, Dr. Singh asserted with hard work and commitment, the economy can be achieved higher growth. Earlier, the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee exuded confidence to achieve indirect tax collection target of 5.05 lakh crore rupees in the current fiscal. Talking to reporters after addressing the two day annual conference of Chief Commissioners and Director General of customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said the government aims to generate this amount from central excise customs and service tax. Meanwhile, captains of Indian Industry have outlined a 12 point agenda for reviving the economic growth in the country.
