India 69 for no loss; bowls out Bangladesh for 233 in the first innings of the second and final cricket Test in Mirpur on Sunday

Indian openers Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir hit out 69 runs in 13 overs in reply to Bangladesh first inning score of 233 in the 2nd and final Test at Mirpur. Sehwag was batting at 41 and Gambhir at 26 when the stumps were drawn.Earlier, Mahmadullah Riad, however, raised hopes of Bangladesh reaching a respectable score as he defied the Indian bowling for more than one hour with an unbeaten 96-run knock and took the Bangladesh score to 233. Indian pacer Zaheer and Ishant rocked the Bangladesh top order with three for 54 and for for 66 respectively while left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha chipped in with two wickets for 36.Bangladesh, who were five down for 84 at lunch after their batsmen played irresponsible shots, added 113 runs in the second session from 29 overs but lost three wickets in the process. Mahmadullah was the only home side batsman who put up a fight against the visiting bowlers, racing to his second Test half century in his fourth match.Ishant struck in the fifth over after lunch as he trapped first Test centurion Mushfiqur Rahim (30) plumb in front of stumps. Rahim faced 61 balls from which he hit six boundaries. The sixth wicket stand of 55 runs from 19.1 overs between Rahim and Shakib was the highest partnership in the Bangladesh innings so far. Captain Shakib also showed poor judgment as he perished to an irresponsible shot for 34, leaving Bangladesh at 127 for seven. Shakib chased a Zaheer delivery wide at the off side only to get a thick edge to Dhoni. He faced 67 balls and hit four fours.Shahadat Hossain gave company to last recognised batsman Mahmadullah for 18 minutes before he was brilliantly stumped by Dhoni for eight. A Pragyan Ojha delivery found the outside edge of Shahadat and Dhoni, in a flash, dislodged the bails with the batsman's foot just on the line. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who returned to the playing XI after recovering from the stiff neck which kept him out of the first Test, bowled 16 overs without success. In the beginning, Shakib straightway chose to bat after winning the toss but his decision turned out to be a nightmare as his side lost three quick wickets for 13 runs inside the fifth over and their top half back to the hut inside the first hour for just 51 runs. The home team did not make even a semblance of a fight as all of them looked like in a hurry to play shots though opener Imrul Kayes (0) was a tad unlucky to be given out by New Zealand umpire Billy Bowden.
