In reply to Australia's first innings score of 333, the touring Indian side were 214 for 3 at stumps on the second day of the first test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG. With a trail of 119 runs, Rahul Dravid on 68 and night watchman Ishant Sharma, who is yet to open his account, were at the crease.Earlier today, the hosts resumed the day on the overnight score of 277 for 6, with Peter Siddle and Brad Haddin as the overnight batsmen. Still recovering Zaheer Khan, who took two crucial Aussie wickets on successive balls Monday, continued his magic with the ball today as well. With a superb outside-the-off-stump delivery, Zaheer first saw off Brad Haddin in the second over the day, followed by the wicket of Peter Siddle, who did not have an answer to Zaheer's asking good-length delivery.Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin completed the tourists' impressive performance with the ball by wrapping up the tail in the opening session itself. At the end of Australia's first innings, Zaheer finished with 4 wickets, while Umesh Yadav and R. Ashwin took 3 apiece.Team India began their riposte on a disappointing note, as opener Gautam Gambhir was out caught behind at a meagre score of 3. Virender Sehwag looked good, but was out on a well made 67. The veteran duo of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar picked from where Sehwag left, with both scoring brilliant half centuries in the post-tea session. Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 73, was the last Indian wicket to fall today.
