Twenty countries along with India, China and United States will today launch an initiative to double their clean energy research and development budget over the next five years as part of global efforts to tackle climate change. Total amount of money being committed by these twenty countries under Mission Innovation amount up USD 20 billion dollar.<br/><br/> The United State is the major partner in this grouping in terms of providing funds. The initiative mission innovation calls for private players and investors to also support the programme by funding for research and development for clean and renewable energy resources.<br/><br/>Spearheaded by Bill Gates, 'Breakthrough Energy Coalition' is a global group of private investors that will take the risk to allow early stage energy companies that emerges from the research programme of Mission Innovation countries to come out of the lab and move into the market place.<br/><br/> The formal announcement for launching Mission Innovation is expected later in the day in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US president Barak Obama and United Nations Secretary General Ban ki Moon.
