India were 140 for the loss of three wickets in their first innings, at close on day three of the first test match against Sri Lanka at Galle. The batsmen out are – Rahul Dravid for 18, Sachin Tendulkar 8 and Gautam Gambhir-2 . At stumps, Virender Sehwag 85 and V.V.S. Laxman 18 were batting. The second day was completely washed out. The play resumed today after an hour's delay with Sri Lanka at 256 for two. Tailenders Rangana Herath 80 not out and Lasith Malinga 64 combined put Sri Lanka in a commanding position as the hosts declared their first innings at 520 for eight. Indian pacers Abhimanyu Mithun took four wickets and Ishant Sharma claimed three. For Sri lanka, Tharanga Paranavitana and Kumar Sangakkara hit centuries.
