In Assam, the Independence Day is being celebrated with due enthusiasm and national spirit across the state. Colourful parades and cultural events are marking the day. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi hoisted the National Flag at Khanapara Veterinary College Playground in Guwahati.People in large number participated in the celebration in the violence hit Bodoland Territorial Area District and adjoining Dhubri district. Administration hoisted National Flag at relief camps. A strict vigil is being maintained by the security forces across state to prevent any untoward incident. Defying the diktat of various outfits, people in large number participated in the Independence Day celebration with great enthusiasm. Expressing deep pain and anguish in the violence of Kokrajhar,Dhubri and Chirang district, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reiterated to take all possible measures to restore peace in the area.Gogoi urged all the militant groups to come forward for peace and prosperity. He also said that government is committed to implement the Assam Accord. The Chief Minister said that Assam has achieved success in socio-economic, agriculture and investment sectors.Gogoi also proposes to undertake Human Development Survey in consultation with the Planning Commission.
