In Assam, district administration imposed indefinite curfew at Tezpur in Sonitpur district as a precautionary measure after bandh supporters resorted to violence. All Assam Minority Students Union has today called a 12-hour bandh demanding halt to the ongoing violence in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts. State Law and Order IGP said that the police resorted to blank firing at Barpeta, Tezpur, Dhubri and Bongaigaon after bandh supporters burnt tyres and pelted stones. Police arrested 13 bandh supporters at Tezpur.Bandh supporters attacked one scribe at Barpeta road area in Barpeta district .He was admitted to hospital.Stray incidents of violence have also been reported in Sivsagar and Bongaigaon district. Nine supporters also sustained minor injuries at Kabaitari in Bongaigaon district after security forces resorted to firing with rubber bullets. Security has been intensified at these places.Meanwhile, indefinite curfew continues in Chirang district as a precautionary measure though no untoward incident has been reported in the last 48 hours. Security has been intensified in Kokrajhar district after miscreants killed one and injured five persons after firing at Pakritol, Bhumki, Tupiamari and Chithila.Curfew has been relaxed from 4 am to 9pm in the district.Two bodies were recovered at Aamingaon area near Guwahati today. Official sources said that the verification is going on to know the cause of death. A group of ministers and all party delegation are visiting the violence hit areas.
