In Assam, curfew continued for the 3rd consecutive days on Saturday as tension ran high in Bodo heartland and Bodoland Territorial Council BTC headquarter Kokrajhar following the killing of four more people on Friday night. The victims including a woman and a 12 years old child were killed by unidentified assailants at Jiaguri under Kokrajhar police station bordering Bilisipara in Dhubri district around 11 pm on Friday. With this the death toll in the current violence has gone up to 10. Six others were injured since fresh violence erupted on Saturday last week. Flag march was done by the security forces.
The council's executive member Mono Kumar Brahma was arrested by the police on Saturday morning for his alleged role in the July-August violence. The district administration also removed the house guards from the residences of the Council's executive members.
The Bodoland Peoples Front member from Banargaon BTC constituency Mono Kumar Brahma, who is also the president of Youth wing of the front was picked up from his Tengapara residence in Kokrajhar town around 5.30 am. Police said two AK 47 rifle, 2 magazine and 60 live rounds of ammunition were recovered from his residence. He was produced to the court later in the evening. A case has been registered in Kokrajhar Police station.
