In Uttar Pradesh indefinite curfew has been imposed in city Kotwali area of religious city of Faizabad after a group clash on Wednesday. DG of state Police AC Sharma has already reached in the city and took over the command of law and order maintenance.
AIR Lucknow correspondent, quoting official sources, reports that administration is doing all efforts to revive and maintain the peace and harmony in the area. Heavy security arrangements have been made to avoid the situation from worsening. Peace talks are being held with religious leaders of both the communities.
The religious city Faizabad witnessed a turmoil on the eve of Durga Pooja and Dussehara yesterday evening where in city Kotwali area, two groups of people scuffled over some minor issues related with Durga idols immersion procession.
Unruly mob indulged in stone pelting and arson which in result, gutted over two dozen shops and five motorcycles including official vehicle of SDM. Disturbance has also been reported from Shahganj, Rudauli, Bhadarsa and Bhikapur- the adjoining areas of the district, where police had to use mild force to disperse the anti social elements.
