An increasing number of MPs in Sri Lanka say they will abandon their party line today and support moves to allow the President to stand for office for an unlimited number of times. Under the present Constitution, the President is limited to two terms. The main opposition says, it will boycott the debate and vote today means, the President Rajapaksa's Government will have the two-thirds majority it needs to make the change. Civil rights activists have called today a Black Day and say they will hold another demonstration like the one which attracted several thousand people on Tuesday.
