National Dairy Plan aimed at increasing the productivity of milch-animals through scientific breeding will be launched before the end of this fiscal.

Addressing a function in New Delhi today Agricultural Minister Sharad Pawar said that the Plan will also include expansion of infrastructure facilities for procurement of milk.

The Minister said that increasing milk production is necessary to control inflation. He noted that dairy and allied products are contributing significantly to the increase in food inflation.

The Minister also called upon the State Governments to provide more funds to the livestock sector and adequate infrastructure to the dairy farmers to increase their productivity.
