Increase in price of non subsidised cylinder will not affect consumers receiving cylinder on subsidized rates: Centre

The Centre today said, the increase in the price of non subsidised cylinder will not affect the consumers receiving cylinder on subsidized rates. Recently the price of the non- subsidised cylinder was increased by 86 rupees. <br/><br/>Responding to concerns of the members about the increase, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said in the Lok Sabha that , there are 19.17 crore LPG consumers in the country and 1.1 crore people have voluntarily given up the subsidy. He said, for the consumers who are availing the cylinder on subsidized rates, the balance amount of 270 rupees will be directly credited into their accounts. Mr Kumar also said, in the last two years, two crore LPG connections were provided to the poor families under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.<br/><br/>Earlier, during zero hour, Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of LPG price hike and criticized the government for such move. He demanded roll back of the price hike on the LPG cylinder. N K Premachnadran of RSP also expressed concern over the price hike and sought a specific answer from the government on the issue. Later not satisfied with the Minister's reply, the Congres,TMC and some other members staged a walkout .
