The income tax (IT) department has seized Rs. 22.3 crores from an associate of real estate company in a major crackdown against the tax evaders today. This is the largest unaccounted cash haul in Delhi. Senior officials of the department said in New Delhi that nation-wide searches were conducted on more than 70 premises of major real estate developers in the NCR over alleged tax evasion. More than 450 officers of the I-T department conducted searches across Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Goa, Meerut, Haridwar, Mussoorie, Lucknow and Kanpur. The department also seized documents during the searches. The searches were conducted at the residential premises of these firms too.
