Inclement weather suspends Amarnath Yatra for two days

After remaining suspended for two days due to inclement weather conditions, the annual Amarnath pilgrimage today resumed from Jammu, with a fresh batch leaving for the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. According to police, a batch of 1720 pilgrims including 13 children and 377 sadhus left for the holy shrine around 8 am today from the Bhagwati Nagar yatra base camp in Jammu. Among tight security arrangements these pilgrims left in a fleet of 55 vehicles. With today's batch, as many as 81,220 pilgrims have left from the Jammu yatra base camp to perform darshan of the ice lingam at the 3,888-mt high cave shrine since this year’s yatra began on July 1.
