In Karnataka the incidents of H1N1 influenza has increased this year. The Minister for Health and Family Welfare in the State, Mr.Arvind Limbavali informed this in the legislative Assembly during question hour today. He informed that the number of H1N1 cases this year has been gone up to 365 with 28 deaths reported till now. He informed that 4654 doctors, 9042 junior lady health assistants and 32,948 ASHA workers have been assigned the task of conducting a survey and a campaign to educate the masses about the prevention of contagious diseases. They are visiting every household to create awareness about sanitation and hygiene. A helpline has been set up with toll free number 1056 to inform the people round the clock. Akashwani has been broadcasting a special programme to educate the people especially in rural areas about contagious diseases and its prevention. The minister informed that Government of India has supplied sufficient number of Tamiflu tablets for treating influenza. He also said that under National Rural Health Mission over 17 lakh rupees has been released for the purchase of NS1 Rapid Diagnostic Kits for diagnosing dengue fever.
