Incheon Asian Games: Indian Archers bag their first Gold medal

After a week into the Incheon Asian Games, the wait for the second Gold is over as Archers bagged their first ever yellow metal, this morning. So far, 1 Gold 2 silver and 3 Bronze have came to Indian kitty in the day.AIR correspondent reports, a rich haul of medals have surged towards Indian bay from the South Korean shore. Indian contingent finally proving their numbers and making country proud. Archery brought, 1 Gold 1 Silver and 2 Bronze in the compounds team and individual event. In the Men's team event, trio of Abhishek Verma, Sandeep Kumar and Rajat Chauhan defeated champions South Korea 227-225 in a close contest to stand tall on the podium. The Women's team defeated Iran, to win a Bronze. In the Individual section Abhishek Verma settled for a silver in men's section and Trisha Deb clinched bronze in women's section. Besides that, Squash has emerged as a new hope after badminton team made an early exit yesterday. They brought third medal of this Asian Games as Indian Women's team roughed up for a silver with Nil-2 loss to Malayasia in finals. However, the men's team will try to avenge their loss as they are also playing Malaysian counterpart in the gold medal match. Shooting range brought another Bronze in the Men's 50-metre Rifle-3 Positions.With grapplers in action we will witness Vinesh and Geetika Jakhar competing for bronze today. Pugilists are another aces for Indian medal hopes, today MC Mary Kom and Laishram Sarita Devi have booked quarterfinals berth. Tennis saw Yuki Bhambri, and Sania Mirza along with her women's doubles partner sailed into the semi-finals. India now has made a significant Jump on the medals table and is sitting at 11th position, with more events to come in the games we can hope to improve the position.
