Ending India's Gold drought at the Incheon Asian Games, Archers bagged their first ever yellow metal, this morning. In the Men's Compound team event, the trio of Abhishek Verma, Sandeep Kumar and Rajat Chauhan defeated Korea, 227-225 in the gold medal match to bag the second Gold of these Games. Shooter Jitu Rai had won the first Gold on the opening day.Earlier today, in the Women's section, the team of Trisha Deb, Purvasha Shende and Jyothi Vennam defeated Iran, 224-217 to win a Bronze.However, in the Individual Compound, Trisha lost in the semi-finals.In Shooting, Chain Singh bagged Bronze in the Men's 50-metre Rifle-3 Positions, a short while ago, to take India's overall medals tally to 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 16 Bronze. Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput had failed to qualify for the Finals. In the team event, the trio ended fourth.In other results, grapplers Vinesh and Geetika Jakhar stormed into the semi-finals of their respective categories. However, in the Men's section, Amit Kumar and Praveen Rana bowed out.In Boxing, MC Mary Kom booked a place in the quarterfinals. Laishram Sarita Devi and Pooja Rani are yet to play their last-16 bouts. In the Men's section, Mandeep Jangra and Gaurav Bidhuri will play for semi-final berths in their respective categories.In Squash, the Indian Women's Squash team is now playing Malaysia for the Gold medal. It is trailing, 1-0. The Men's team will also meet Malaysia in the finals, later in the day.In Tennis, Yuki Bhambri sailed into the semi-finals today, beating Thailand's Danai Udomchoke 6-3, 6-2. Sanam Singh, however, made an exit. Sania Mirza will figure in the Women's and Mixed Doubles quarterfinals, later today.The Men's Hockey team will meet China in a group match. Athletics events are also beginning from today. Preeja Sreedharan, Sudha Singh, Narayana Shraddha and Poovamma Raju are among the Indians who will look to progress in their respective events.China is currently at the top of the medals tally, with Korea second and Japan third. India has climbed to the 11th spot.
